Share with Africa button and multiple currencies – Version 2.04 is released

Monday, November 17, 2008

We are excited to announce that Lara has been upgraded with 2 major functionalities.

Share with Africa Integration – a new community - driven website focused on Africa

Hey Africa is a new website that gathers news, stories and anything interesting from all across Africa.

We felt that integrating with a news website entirely dedicated to the African continent is needed since it is often neglected or is appearing only in sub categories on most news sites. Hey Africa was launched to bring together Africa’s interesting, wonderful and sometimes unbelievable stories.

Users can submit links to articles they like and want to share with other readers who can then view, comment and rank them. Most popular stories appear on top of the list depending on their voting.

By enabling this feature on your website your African related content will gain more exposure.

Hey Africa shows the title and a short description of the article; in order to read the full story users will be directed back to your site.

Hey Africa was launched by Geographical Media along with this release.  Submitting an article to Hey Africa is beneficial to a lot of people, both users looking for content and site owners looking to promote their content.  You are welcome to submit your own content directly to Hey Africa for the community to promote.

Website masters of African focussed websites can simply put a “Share with Africa” widget onto their sites below each article through which an article can be submitted to Hey Africa (just like the ”Digg” buttons). Website owners who run a Lara site will find the widget in the Media Actions Feature on a show media page (on an article, a blog post, photo etc. where you choose “Email to a friend”, “Enquire”, “Digg” etc.) and can simply choose it to have it appear with every media item.

If you don’t have a Lara site and wish to have the "Share with Africa" widget please go to heyafrica.com to get the code for the widget there.

We hope you will enjoy Hey Africa and submit many interesting news and stories from and about Africa and help us build the community!

Attention Real Estate Website Owners: Display multiple currencies on your (real estate) website

We have now added a system which allows you to display multiple currencies on your website. This is applicable to real estate website owners who wish to show the prices of properties in multiple currencies.
You may choose one main currency and then add up to 3 additional ones, using your own exchange rate. You will find these new options under Settings > Regional.

Site Designer

Don’t forget, we also constantly add new style components like new backgrounds, feature boxes, footer styles and others. It is worth checking out the Site Designer from time to time and getting some new style ideas for your website!

We hope you enjoy the new functionalities and also get started on Hey Africa!
