The Content List

The Content List is probably the most powerful tool to display regularly changing content. All dynamic content is displayed on your web site using the Content List feature. The Content List has many options on how to display the content, and how to decide which content is displayed.

It pulls media according to its settings and shows them in a list, the latest item on top. Any media type (blog posts, photos, news articles, real estate properties etc.) can be displayed through a content list.

One content list displays one media item (either blog posts or news articles or photos etc.) but you can put any amount of content lists onto any page. When you click Edit on the Content List box you are given the option of editing the Content List Settings or editing or deleting items currently displayed in the Content List.

With the settings you determine which media the list is displaying and through Channels you can even go one level deeper and choose a particular category within that media item.

For instance, if you have a technology page and want to show blog posts on different themes you can drop several content lists on with different settings. One content list could be "Computer & Internet", another one "Technology & Gadgets" and another one "Science". Each of them will only display those blog posts which have been uploaded with the matching channels.

Display by title or date and display in columns – organise your content list

You can choose whether to display your items from your content list by date or title.
If you have a regularly changing list of articles it is best to display them by date but a more general list of items, names or articles you can display them in alphabetical order.

Go to your Content List and click Edit Page (at the top of your screen) and Edit on your Content List. In the Settings you find the options to Order by Date or Order by Title. Click the one you want and then Save.

Display in Columns
You can display your list items in columns with just one item or several items per row. Go into your Content List Display Options and choose the amount of columns you want to have.
