User accounts, administrators’/editors’ accounts, contact list

There are several ways and options how people use your site. Lara is ideal for having a team of individuals working on and managing a website from individual secure accounts.

Anonymous Users
Those are users are not signed in.
Anonymous users can visit and browse your website, promote, comment on, email and enquire about media items as well as use the social bookmarking features. All this will be done anonymously so their (user) names will not show up anywhere.

User sign up
You can allow users to sign up and create an account on your site. This is necessary for the participation in the community forums, for instance. In order to write posts in the forums, users have to have an account and be signed in. To allow sign ups on your site you need to have the Sign up link in your top menu. This link is added automatically to your site but if it was deleted for some reason you can always add it again. Go to Pages and Menus and click on the /sign up link under Website Pages. Click Add To Top (or Add to Main if you want to have that link in your main menu) and Save. This will add a sign up link to your site.

Creating Editor and Administrator Accounts
You can set up different accounts for your users / work team which will allow different levels of access to the administrative tools. If you have a team working on a website you can set up as many accounts as you need and set them up with the necessary access.

Only administrators can set up additional editor or administrator accounts. You as the website owner are automatically set up as an administrator with full access. If you want to set up someone else with an administrator or editor account you first need to create that user.

Go to Add/Edit Content > Users > Add new User. Fill in the fields and click OK. You have now created a new user without any access at this point.

To turn a user to an Editor or Administrator, check the appropriate box under Roles. Make sure that the account is Active.
To change someone’s role (e.g. from editor to administrator or to change into a normal user) un-select the box, choose the appropriate or leave it blank (normal user).

Administrator Accounts
Administrators have complete access to all editing and design tools. Once signed in with an administrator account the full administration menu drops down.

Editor Accounts
Editors are authorized to upload content (photos, posts, articles, listings and properties) to the system as well as Edit the page. As soon as a user signs in with an editor account, an editor menu bar shows up with the necessary functionalities. Editors don't have access to major website changes like Settings or Design changes.

Deleting Users
If you wish to delete a user go to Add/Edit Content > Users and click on the Delete button next to the user you wish to delete. Confirm your action and click ok. The user will be deleted immediately.

Removing User from Contact List
If a user wants to be removed from your contact list (e.g. that user signed up for a newsletter or for “email me if someone replies” on comments) go to Add/Edit Content > Users and click Edit on that user. In the profile, next to that user's email address is a field "Contact List".  Un-select that box to remove that user from the list.
Click Save and Publish when you are finished.
