Publishing and Copyright Options

Monday, September 22, 2008

You have complete control over how your content is published and who may use or copy it.
Publishing options allow you to publish to your site only, or to the .geographical media network where it will be be linked from and to other users related content and be found on geographicalmedia.com and community aggregation sites.

Specify your copyright preferences on an item by item basis based on your personal or business needs.

You have several options on how to publish your content; choose at the bottom of the screen when adding new content.

Publish on .geographical media network
will release your media item to the network which means that it will appear on other websites (in the See  Also section if search criteria like channels, tags and location match) with a link back to your site. This will generate a lot of links pointing to your website and potential visitors to your site.

Publish to my site only
will save that media item to your site only without being displayed on any other sites.

Release to public domain
means that your media item will become "public property", and therefore available for anyone to use.

Creative commons licence
means that people are free to copy, distribute and transmit the work under the following conditions:
They must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author and noncommercial purposes only. Furthermore, they may not alter, transform, or build upon this work.

All rights reserved
will ensure that you still own the copyrights of the media item.
