Style the post display page

Now that you have written and published your first blog post you can have a look at the page that is displaying it. We call this page the show media page. All show media pages for blog posts look the same which means that if you make a change on a page it will affect all.

Go to your blog post

When you publish your post you will automatically go to the show media screen and see the post on the page. Any other time go to Add/Edit Content > Posts and then click on a post. You are now on the sow media page for posts.

The tools work exactly as on any other page with the only difference that whatever style and layout change you make on this page will be for all show media pages for posts.

Default Layout

We set up a default layout but, as just about everything in Lara, you can customize it if you want.

Go to Edit Page > Change Layout or Add Feature to make changes. You will see that there are a few different features on this screen than on the others.
The Show Media Item is the feature that contains the blog post. This is the most important part of this screen. If this gets deleted you will not have a blog post on this or any other show media page so handle this feature with care.

You have a Current Content section in the box on the left with special features for this screen (like Email this to a friend, Enquire, Back and Next or Comments etc.).

On the show media page you have the option to allow Comments. By default the Comments are displayed underneath the main post. If you do not want to enable comments just hit Delete on the Comments box and they will be deleted from all post pages.

If you do allow Comments you can choose whether to display comments right away or to approve them first. In that case an email would be sent to you whenever someone commented and you can then read and approve it or delete it. Click Edit on the Comments box to see the different options.

If you want to add additional features to this page drag and drop them from the list on the left into your columns.
To delete a current feature click on it and drag it into the recycle bin at the bottom of the list on the left.

If you want to change the current layout choose a new one from the options on the left.

Display your post with attached images

If you have photos attached to your blog post you have several display options. You could just try them out by choosing one and clicking on Preview to see how this would look like.

Attached photos are displayed as a mini slideshow

Choose a display style that works with your content. You can change this at any time.

Great! Now you have written and published a post as well as styled the display page.

Let’s add a list with your posts onto pages.
